Anxiety

Anxiety is a common condition that can be described as the body’s natural action to a situation that is perceived as uncontrollable or unavoidable. Anxiety is a normal response to these situations as it allows us to deal with the situation by triggering responses for the body or mind to take appropriate action.

The problem with anxiety is when it continues to remain and interfere with our body on a daily basis.

Examples of the more common Anxiety symptoms are:

  • Restlessness

  • Fatigue

  • Disturbed sleep

  • Rapid heartbeat

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Excessive trembling and sweating

  • Nausea and dizziness

  • Muscle tension

  • Difficulty concentrating and focusing

 

Examples of the most common types of anxiety are:

  • Generalized Anxiety (excessive worry)

  • Social Phobia (Fear of social situations and being judged)

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (routine repetitive behaviours)

  • Post Traumatic Stress disorder (recall of a traumatic situation)

  • Panic Attacks (sudden unexpected feelings of fear)
